Lest we forget

 

September 2019

On the evening of Sunday, 8th September, Brethren of Lodge Polkemmet carried out the annual act of remembrance at the grave of the late Bro. William Easton Frame, who lost his life in service during WWI. A wreath is laid at the grave of Bro. Frame every autumn, in honour of the six Brethren of 927 who fell in conflict whilst serving their country.

 

They are:- Bro. William Easton Frame; Bro. Thomas Drummond; Bro. Thomas Murray; Bro. John Boyd Michie; Bro. John McDougall Clark; Bro. George Carr.

JULY 2017

On 15th July 2017 members of the lodge gathered in Whitburn Cemetery to once again remember Private William E. Frame who was Senior Deacon when he enlisted in 1915.

These are the members of the lodge who have been identified from the minutes or roll book as having died in the service of their country in the First and Second World Wars.

On 14th July 2016 members of the lodge gathered in Whitburn Cemetery to mark 100 years since the funeral of Private William E. Frame who was Senior Deacon when he enlisted in 1915. He was wounded in France on 1st July 1916 and died in 2nd Birmingham War Hospital on the 9th July 1916. Of the members of the lodge who died in the Great War he is as far as we can ascertain the only one to be buried in Whitburn.
